Vittorio: "everything was born in October. Tommaso was aware of this competition and, since my sister has been in a wheelchair for 7 years, I thought we could do something about airplanes and disability. I remembered that, with my sister, I had never been able to travel on an airplane, there were always problems...".
Tommaso, Mario, Vittorio and Daniela are the four students of the first year of the Aeronautical Engineering degree course who presented the SWAN project, which develops within the Internet of Things. Their proposal is an aircraft seat that, in case of need, could be used as a wheelchair, governable via smartphone, from the departure airport boarding to the baggage claim at destination. The strength of the team lay in the diversity: each of the guys put in play skills in different areas and this allowed to develop a project in all its aspects.
The MOVE_EZ team with the SWAN project, came third out of 156 teams participating in #FlyYourIdeas, the sixth edition of the multidisciplinary and biennial competition organized by Airbus.
"For us FYI was an opportunity to make the most of the skills we have acquired during these years at the Politecnico: the real teaching for us was to acquire the ability to face any kind of problem and find the simplest and most elegant solution".
